Description

Job Title: Zeiss CMM Programmer

Department: Production


Methods Machine Tools was established in 1958 with three employees and a handful of refurbished machines. Since then, the company has become one of the largest privately owned machine tool importers in North America.


Job Summary: 

The Zeiss CMM Programmer is responsible for developing, validating, and optimizing Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection programs utilizing Zeiss Calypso software. This position supports customers and internal teams by providing metrology expertise, inspection programming, process validation, training, and technical support related to CNC machining and quality control applications. The ideal candidate possesses strong GD&T knowledge, experience with precision measurement, and the ability to collaborate with customers to improve manufacturing quality and efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and optimize CMM inspection programs using Zeiss Calypso software. 
  • Program and operate Zeiss CMM equipment for dimensional verification of machined components. 
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and GD&T requirements. 
  • Conduct first article inspections (FAI), process capability studies, and measurement system analyses. 
  • Support machine tool sales efforts by demonstrating metrology solutions and providing technical expertise during customer evaluations. 
  • Install, configure, and validate CMM systems at customer facilities. 
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support for measurement programs and inspection processes. 
  • Generate detailed inspection reports and communicate measurement results to customers and internal stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with application engineers, sales representatives, and service technicians to ensure successful project implementation. 
  • Assist customers with quality improvement initiatives and measurement process optimization. 
  • Maintain awareness of emerging metrology technologies, software enhancements, and industry best practices.
  • Incoming inspection of outsourced parts/components


Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Metrology, Quality Assurance, or related field; equivalent experience considered. 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience programming and operating Zeiss CMM equipment. 
  • Proficiency with Zeiss Calypso software. 
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation. 
  • Experience inspecting precision machined components. 
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including CNC milling, turning, grinding, and related machining operations. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot measurement and inspection issues independently. 
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None


Travel Requirements: 

  • Between Acton and Sudbury locations with occasional travel to other Methods locations


Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of desk/computer work.
  • Ability to walk manufacturing floors and assess operations.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
  • Adherence to PPE and safety protocols required on shop floors.


Salary:

$89, 772.64 - $112,215.26


The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position. Final compensation will be determined based on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, and may exceed the posted range for highly qualified candidates.
