Patriot Machine is looking for a software developer to build practical automation tools for NC programming, manufacturing engineering, and CAD/CAM workflows.
This role will focus on custom software development, Siemens NX integration, third-party software integration, and AI-assisted tools that reduce manual work and improve how engineering and manufacturing teams operate.
The ideal candidate is a software developer who understands, or is willing to learn, manufacturing. They should be comfortable working directly with users, understanding real problems, and turning those needs into working software.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain internal software tools for NC programming, manufacturing engineering, and related manufacturing teams
- Build custom applications and integrations that improve CAD/CAM and CNC programming workflows
- Develop tools and integrations for Siemens NX, including use of APIs, SDKs, journals, or other automation capabilities
- Integrate third-party software used in CNC programming, CAD/CAM, engineering, manufacturing, documentation, and reporting workflows
- Identify manual or repetitive processes and build reliable tools to make them faster, easier, and less error prone
- Develop AI-assisted tools that support document search, workflow automation, data analysis, CNC programming, manufacturing engineering, and CAD/CAM processes
- Work with approved on-premises, Azure, and external AI tools while following secure data-handling requirements
- Work with approved data sources, including SQL databases and limited ERP-related data, to support automation, reporting, and integration needs
- Work directly with end users to understand problems, define requirements, test solutions, and improve usability
- Document software, integrations, data flows, and user workflows clearly
- Review new technologies, APIs, automation tools, and AI solutions when they may solve a real business or manufacturing need
Technical Skills:
Candidates should have experience or strong working knowledge in several of the following areas:
Required or strongly preferred:
- Object-oriented programming
- C# / .NET
- SQL Server
- API or SDK integration
- Visual Studio

- Python
- Siemens NX API, SDK, or journal automation
- Azure AI or AI API experience
- Web application development
- Desktop application development
- Windows services or background process development
- Manufacturing, CNC, CAD/CAM, or aerospace exposure
CAD/CAM and Manufacturing Focus
Direct hands-on Siemens NX or CNC programming experience is not required, but familiarity with CAD/CAM concepts is preferred.
Helpful experience includes:
- Siemens NX general knowledge
- Siemens NX API, SDK, or journal automation
- CAD/CAM data automation
- CNC programming workflow awareness
- Manufacturing engineering workflow awareness
- Automating setup sheets, tool lists, operation data, work instructions, or related manufacturing documentation
- Integrating CAD/CAM systems with databases, reporting tools, or third-party applications

- Writing clean, maintainable, and well-structured code
- Relational database concepts
- API and systems integration
- Debugging and troubleshooting software applications
- Creating clear technical documentation
- Using version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Testing and validating software to ensure reliability and quality
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field preferred
- Equivalent professional software development experience will be considered
- Junior to mid-level candidates are encouraged to apply
- More experienced candidates will also be considered if there is strong alignment with the role
- Applicant must be a U.S. Person
- Manufacturing experience is not required, but the candidate must be willing and interested in learning manufacturing, CNC programming, and CAD/CAM workflows
Preferred Candidate Characteristics
- A self-directed problem solver
- Comfortable working with incomplete or unclear requests and turning them into working software
- Curious about manufacturing and how parts are actually programmed and made
- Able to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical users
- Practical and hands-on
- Interested in automation, AI, and manufacturing software
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
- Careful with company, customer, and controlled technical data
- Able to maintain existing tools while building new ones
