DEPARTMENT:Manufacturing Engineering POSITION: SMT programmer ( Surface Mount Technology Programmer)
CATEGORY: Non-Exempt JOB FUNCTION: We are seeking a skilled CAD & SMT Programmer to join our electronics manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible to generate programming data for Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment to ensure efficient, high-quality PCB assembly production. You will work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to develop accurate machine programs for pick-and-place machines, stencil printers, Solder paste inspection, reflow ovens, and automated optical inspection (AOI) systems.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Associate’s degree in Electronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience in PCB CAD and SMT programming within an electronics manufacturing environment
Strong ability to read and interpret Gerber files, Bills of Materials (BOMs), CAD data, and assembly drawings
Proficient in industry-standard electronics manufacturing software tools (e.g., Valor, FabMaster)
Solid understanding of SMT processes, including solder paste printing, component placement, reflow soldering, and inspection
Working knowledge of IPC standards, particularly IPC-A-610
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Hands-on experience with offline programming stations
Proficient in AOI/SPI programming, including systems such as Koh Young and TRI
Strong understanding of PCB panelization and stencil design principles
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to read and understand technical documentation
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Good communication and teamwork skills
Basic computer skills (MS Office, especially Excel)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Generate and validate component placement data from Gerber files, BOMs, and CAD data
Program and support AOI and SPI (Solder Paste Inspection) systems
Troubleshoot SMT programming-related issues and support root cause analysis for production defects
Collaborate with Process Engineering to provide DFM (Design for Manufacturability) feedback on new products
Maintain accurate documentation of all programs, revisions, and setup instructions
Maintain 5s activities on the production floor at all time
