General Summary

The Florida House of Representatives is seeking a dedicated and proactive Support Analyst to join our dynamic Office of Information Technology team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a talent for technical troubleshooting, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. This role involves resolving first and second-level desktop computer and application issues for our end-users, both onsite and remotely. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE: Pursuant to sections 112.3144 and 112.3145, F.S., this position is required to electronically file a Form 1 – Statement of Financial Interests with the Florida Commission on Ethics within 30 days of hire.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Engage directly with customers to resolve technical issues.
  • Install, test, and configure new workstations/laptops, peripheral equipment, and software.
  • Conduct system testing to ensure quality.
  • Respond efficiently to requests through the IT Service Desk.
  • Assist with onboarding new users, including PC setup and deployment using standardized hardware, images, and software.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
  • Develop a personalized growth plan for future career advancement.
  • Report issues for escalation as needed.
  • Interact with vendors to acquire necessary information.
  • Implement and manage security functions related to data, physical, and user access to information systems.
  • Provide regular project status updates to the Deputy Chief Information Officer of Support.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of specialized systems projects.
  • Research and recommend new technologies for application in the legislative environment.
  • Document internal procedures clearly and thoroughly.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, mathematics, or engineering. Progressively responsible information systems experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. Any combination of progressively responsible information systems experience and post-secondary training in disciplines as described above totaling four years.

Preference will be given to applicants with the following:

  • Proven experience as a help desk technician or other customer support role.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Windows, and remote control tools.
  • Strong understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products.
  • IT certifications such as MCSE, MCP, CompTIA A+, Network+, or Cisco.
  • Customer-oriented and calm under pressure.
