Title: CNC Programmer/ Machinist

 

Job Summary:

A CNC programmer develops code, or a program of directions, for a computer to operate CNC machines and tools. They study a part's design and input instructions on how to manufacture it, ensuring the CNC machine follows the specified steps precisely. This role involves understanding technical drawings and CAD models, selecting appropriate tools and materials, and potentially assisting in setting up and calibrating machines.

 Responsibilities:

 

  • Programming, setting up and operating CNC milling Centers using Mastercam software.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, op sheets and work instructions.
  • Working independently while also collaborating with toolmakers, engineering, Management and Quality Control to achieve objectives.
  • Review and interpret 3D CAD design blueprints.
  • Convert design blueprints into efficient Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) programs.
  • Conduct simulations or test runs to validate program accuracy and performance.
  • Determine sequence of operations to maximize efficiency in the production process.
  • Write and modify CNC programs to improve performance.
  • Adjust speeds, feeds and cutting tools to achieve optimal results.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine program operations to simplify workflows.
  • Monitor program execution to ensure adherence to blueprints and safety standards.
  • Provide training to apprentices as required.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and designs.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of metal shop work.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating job performance and optimizing processes.

 

 

 

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • Mastercam experience, Creo a plus.
  • Advanced CNC Programming Certificate (ACNC) a plus

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
