The CNC Machinist / Programmer

Creates programs for numerical control machines using Mastercam software.  This position expected to have a comprehensive understanding of all CNC machining and programming operations.

 

The CNC Machinist / Programmer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  •         Utilize Mastercam for programming CNC machines such as 3-axis mill turns and Horizontal 4 axis.
  •         Design work holding fixtures, custom tools and build 3-D models.
  •         Troubleshoot software settings and configure post processes as required.
  •         Veri cut NC files as well as maintain revision control on programs and setup sheet.
  •         Maintain accurate and organized documentation of CNC programs and machining processes.
  •         Knowledgeable of cutters and adjusting speed and feed parameters for maximum tool life.
  •         Evaluate drawings and engineering data sets to determine proper approach to creating precision parts.
  •         Ability to interpret a wide variety of aerospace detail parts, assembly drawings, parts lists, and process specifications from a diverse customer base.
  •         Knowledge of machine tooling, fixtures, and jigs.
  •         Responsible for proving out programs on first time runs and make corrections as needed.
  •         Strong grasp of and in the use of measuring and inspection equipment.
  •         Experience with programming and operationg Hexagon CMM.
  •         Meets expectations for productivity and production goals.
  •         Provides ideas for process improvements.
  •         Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

-The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to Shop/Industrial environment.  The noise level in the work environment has potential to be 89.4 decibels, which requires OSHA approved ear protection.  Frequently used PPE in this position is: Ear protection, gloves, and safety glasses.

Education and/or Experience:

·         3+ years of machine shop experience in programming, setup, and operating CNC equipment.

·         Proficiency with Mastercam software, experience with using G & M codes.

·         Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders.

·         Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high quality work.

·         Good communication, time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skill.

·         Solid understanding of shop math.

·         CMM programming experience a plus.

·         High school diploma or equivalent, technical school training a plus.


Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record

- Eligible to work on ITAR projects (lawful permanent resident of the United States as defined by 8 U.S.C.)


Computer Skills:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of typing, Windows/Microsoft, website
navigation, and working with an ERP.
