Design & Instruction

  • Design and facilitate project-based, real-world learning experiences within authentic professional contexts.
  • Implement personalized, competency-based learning practices aligned to proficiency scales.
  • Teach and intentionally model Utah Durable Skills: adaptability, collaboration, communication, innovation, leadership, and professionalism.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies that maximize engagement, rigor, and productive use of instructional time.

  • Remain current in industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative practices within the assigned pathway, continuously integrating relevant tools, systems, and real-world advancements into learning experiences to ensure workforce alignment and student readiness.

Assessment & Feedback

  • Devise and utilize accurate, standards-aligned methods to measure student progress.
  • Evaluate academic growth and durable skill development through authentic demonstrations of mastery. 
  • Provide timely coaching, feedback, conferencing, and opportunities for reflection and revision.
  • Maintain accurate, secure records of student progress and prepare required progress reports for PLC’s. 

Collaboration & Industry Partnership

  • Support school-wide initiatives aligned to profession-based learning and workforce readiness.
  • Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings, PLCs, committees, student activities, and professional development.
  • Design and facilitate a profession-based CAPS capstone course within an assigned pathway, centered on authentic industry problems, client-connected projects, and real-world deliverables.
  • Develop and sustain active partnerships with industry professionals who serve as mentors, project clients, evaluators, and advisory contributors to ensure learning reflects current workforce standards and expectations.
  • Coach students in professional practices including client communication, project management, collaboration, innovation, and presentation of solutions to authentic audiences.
  • Assess student growth through industry-aligned competencies, authentic products, public exhibitions, and demonstration of Utah Durable Skills in alignment with CAPS network expectations.

  • Establish and maintain clear standards of student behavior aligned to a professional learning atmosphere.
  • Provide a safe, supervised, and inclusive environment in classrooms, labs, collaborative spaces, and school grounds.
  • Build strong rapport with students and empower them to take ownership of their learning and growth.

Communication & Professionalism

  • Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, community partners, and district personnel.
  • Interpret school programs and student progress to families through conferences and other communication methods.
  • Demonstrate professional ethics in accordance with Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information in compliance with FERPA and district policy, including responsible use of technology and social media.
  • Maintain required records securely and responsibly manage district-owned property and equipment.

Position Specific Requirements- AI Cybersecurity Academy

 

The Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence Academy Instructor is responsible for delivering advanced coursework within a magnet center model that builds directly off high school CTE pathways and moves students into college- and industry-aligned learning. This position teaches advanced cybersecurity, computer science, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies, designing hands-on, project-based instruction that emphasizes systems thinking, ethical technology use, secure design principles, and real-world problem solving while preparing students for industry certifications, concurrent enrollment credit, and postsecondary pathways.

 

Key responsibilities include facilitating authentic, industry-connected projects; managing lab-based learning environments; integrating tools such as programming platforms, networking systems, cybersecurity frameworks, AI models, and immersive technologies including augmented and virtual reality; aligning curriculum with USBE standards and credential requirements; and supporting students through certification testing and capstone experiences. The instructor plays a critical role in maintaining a progressive magnet pipeline by ensuring coursework provides depth, rigor, and advancement beyond traditional high school offerings. Ideal candidates have strong content knowledge in cybersecurity, AI, software development, or related fields; experience with industry-aligned instruction; and a passion for preparing students for careers in high-demand technology sectors.

 

Physical Requirements – Not limited to the following:

  • Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Move about inside and outside the school to access files, students and machinery.
  • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer, computer printer.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend a ladder/stairs to access high objects or different levels of the building.
  • Constantly positions self to maintain files, students, or objects.
  • Have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Have the ability to observe details at close and far range.
  • Frequently move items weighing up to 20 pounds across the classroom for various needs.
  • Attendance to work is an essential function of the position.
  • Constantly work in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Teachers in SpEd, P.E., CTE, Theatre and/or Art may be required to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications:

  • Has knowledge of State Core Curriculum and Board of Education adopted guides.
  • Valid Utah Teaching/Educator License and relevant endorsement(s).
  • Requires a Utah State Board of Education (USBE) approved, cleared criminal background check.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Preferred CTE endorsements aligned with Academy
